Monday, April 1, 7pm
Long Island City: Mission to (dit)Mars, a theatre arts collective serving Queens artists, presents the first in a series of free play readings as part of their 2013 Launch Pad Reading Series. Bridges & Boundaries is a new play by Courtney Lauria. Set in a brick house in Astoria, Queens, shadowed by the RFK bridge, a young woman is sorting her emotions. In jars. Literally. Claire’s phobias have gotten the best of her for long enough, and the way she is living doesn’t feel like living at all. Bridges and Boundaries charts Claire’s quest to overcome her roadblocks, and create a future she actually wants to feel.
Wednesday, April 3, 7-9pm (open mic signup 6.30-7)
Elmhurst: First Tuesdays presents Sarah Stetson. Sarah Stetson graduated from the MFA Program at Queens College where she studied poetry and won the Giro S. Cestaro III Memorial Scholarship for her thesis, Barefoot in the Package Store. She has worked for Ploughshares and was editor of Ozone Park, an online literary journal founded in 2008 by Queens College MFA students. She is now an adjunct lecturer in poetry and composition at Queens College.
